Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
