Gas Detonation Takes Three Police Officers Amid Eviction Procedure in Italy
Three police officers lost their lives and no fewer than 15 others sustained injuries in a seemingly premeditated gas explosion at a rural property in northern Italy.

The explosion was triggered as police and firefighters approached the residence near the city of Verona to enforce an court-ordered eviction for a brother and sister trio aged in their 50s and 60s.
All three deceased individuals were members of the Italian military police.

The blast could be audible some 5km (3 miles) away and photographs from the area revealed the building turned into a pile of rubble.
âThis moment calls for sorrow,â commented Interior Minister the Interior Minister, who noted that efforts had been made to displace the three siblings in the past.

The president of the Veneto region, the regional head, stated the farmhouse was under an removal notice due to unpaid amounts accrued by the siblings.
Negotiators had been dispatched to speak to the family members who had secured themselves into the house. When the officers came just after 03:00 (01:00 GMT), authorities suspect a family member set off the blast.

A propane tank had been activated, and the explosion directly hit our personnel,â he added.
Molotov cocktails were also found at the property, the minister stated.

Based on information from the prosecuting attorney, the building was in a dilapidated shape and had no electricity.
The prosecutor was convinced the blast had taken place on a floor above the doorway and stated to journalists it was a âintentional and planned killingâ. Moments before the explosion, he revealed personnel had âdetected a whistling noise, likely the gas cylinders being activatedâ.
Community Reaction
âEveryone was aware the circumstances were severe,â nearby inhabitants stated to Italian media, adding that the three had in the past stated to âcause an explosionâ rather than leave the house.
